Summer Swim | Bikini or One piece?

Which are you? Team bikini or team one piece? (let me know in the comments, I’m truly curious 😀 )
Truth be told, I’m team BOTH, however my husband and I made the decision for me to wear bikinis around my family only…this happened one day when my 7 year old said to me out of the blue “mom, you shouldn’t show your stomach to other people.  That’s just for your husband.” My first thoughts were “what the F!  Who’s child are you!?” haha.  I had never told her that, and here I am being chastised by her 😳

But hey, I have no problem wearing one pieces, I think they’re very flattering, and they’ve come such a long way in style and cuteness.

How to shop mindful one piece swim suits

I’ve been trying hard to be more mindful in my shopping and purchasing habits, and doing my best to shop small businesses, second hand, or ethical brands. (check out my small business posts here & here)
Ethical swim is very difficult to find at an affordable price.  So here I’m going to share my simple secret to getting stylish cute swim suits at an affordable price point, and do it mindfully.  It can take some patience, but so worth it!

Tip 1: Browse suits on store websites, blogs, pinterest etc. to get the specific name and brand of the suit you want.  For example: Trina Turk Kon Tiki one piece (first suit pictured above)

Tip 2: Google search “shop Trina Turk Kon Tiki one piece poshmark/mercari” (whichever you prefer)
Doing this in the google search is key, rather than searching in the Poshmark or mercar app, you get more results on google, and sometimes when you search the item in the app it won’t even bring up all the listings!

*There are other sites you can use, Poshmark and Mercari are just he main ones I use.  It’s great because these places you can often barter and get the price down.  The most I paid for one of these one piece swim suits was $40 (for a $150 suit!!!)

Some may cringe at the idea of purchasing swim second had.  And yes there can be those eek situations, but let me just say, I’ve gotten brand new tags attached before, AND if the seller doesn’t disclose the details of the items condition you get a full refund without having to pay for shipping.
