Why shop local businesses?
I’ve become an avid advocate for supporting local businesses, and ethical brands….it started after watching “The True Cost” but I won’t get into that here? (Let me know in the comments if you’d like to know more about the effects of Fast Fashion, what it is, and what “The True Cost” is 😀)
Here are some perks that come about from shopping local.
- A $30 purchase will no doubt put food on a table or clothes on a back. That same $30 to a large coorporation is mere pennies.
- Less chance of buyers remoarse 😜
- Strengthens your local economy (aka YOU)
#1 Scout & Cloth
Located in Green Gate Village, probably my favorite boutique I visited. To give a rough idea of what to expect, they carry a lot of Free People, and some other label I didn’t recognize and can’t remember! But everything was incredibly cute!
- This local business is run and owned by women!
- The sales people were very friendly and upbeat, the shop was clean, and had a pleasant boho atmosphere.
*I would have tried stuff on and showed you some outfits…but I had just finished a hot yoga class, and let’s just say my smell was not pleasant 😂
But I did get an adorable super soft sweater!
#2 Cozy House & Gift
Also located in Green Gate Village, Cozy House & Gift is a home decor local small business that is boho, rustic farmhouse style decore. Definitely worth checking out!
# 3 The St George Swap Meet
*Hours: Thursdays 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Fridays 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Come support a pleathora of local businesses in one place, especially in the month of March—May, the weather could not be more perfect.
The swap meet is where I got some stone bracelets that I’m obsessed with! *Shown in the clip

Thank you Joyce! It’s been a super fun journey!
not sure “small business” is the appropriate term, it seems a little insulting, but I get what your getting at <3
Thank you.
“small business” I view as just a general term for “privately owned” hopefully others don’t see it as an insult.
😀
omg your bracelets!!!!!!
Thanks love! two of them are from the swap meet, the others are from a vendor in Venice Beach, or my sister in law made them for me 😀
