How To Meditate

There is a common misconception that meditation is a BIG task that requires a lot of effort.  Or that it’s a religion, or witch craft even.

These are ridiculous notions.  Everyone meditates whether they realize it or not.  For some it is “zoning out” others it’s “pondering” atheletes often “visualize”
These are all forms of meditation…the practice of meditation is simply a fancy way of saying you’re doing it intentionally, and combining it with slow “intentional” breathing.
These two things combined have numerous benefits.  But that’s for another whole post…today we’re just learning the basics of where to start.

“Meditation” can look different for everyone.

For me it looks like this.
Usually laying in my bed before I go to sleep, or right after I wake up.  I either repeat a few positive affirmations to myself.  Then I ask my higher power—for me this is my Heavenly Father— (for you this might be the Universe, Buddha, Allah, God etc.) “what do I need to know today?”  And then I just wait, and see what comes up.
Nothing too crazy or spectacular…while reading this you might have even started to think…..Oh I already do this!

1) Put your phone down. Have relaxing white noise like ocean waves or rain...or NO sound at all

2) Ask a question then...wait for what comes up. A good start is to ask "what do I need to know?"
