Are you one who has been practicing yoga for awhile, but because of some (very valid) fears, you haven’t yet tried poses you “always wish you could do”??? I totally understand where you’re coming from. I’ve practiced for 10 years (off and on) now and only recently started getting past my yoga fears. Here are some things that have helped me!
1) Do what you must in order to feel the most comfortable being uncomfortable:
What do I mean by this? Well it can look a few different ways, but essentially it all comes down to doing anything it takes to push through the dicomfort or fear.
-Afraid of falling on your face? Put down pillows, blocks, whatever!
-you can do poses at home but not in front of people? Get a place at the back of the class, or (if you’re like me) say it out loud “I’ll probably fall on my face because I get stage freight 😜.”
2) Affirmations: Say out loud “I feel the fear, but I’m doing it anyway!”
Write it down and put this where you can see it daily.
3) LAUGH: Find joy in the journey and don’t take yourself so darn seriously.
