Connecting with kids even when your energy is low

3 ways

“How you treat a child refelcts how you see them, how you see them is what they will become”

1-Undivided attentions goes a long way in parenting

Happy parenting can feel impossible to achieve at times.  But in truth, all your kids really want at the end of the day, is to feel that they are important to you, that you want them in your life.  So when you speak to them, LOOK into their eyes, and LISTEN to what they say to you too.

2-STOP and ASSESS.

There may come a day when you are desperately seeking your child’s attention.  And you wish you could have the days back where they just wanted to BE in your presance.  So when as aggrevating as it might be in the moment, when they are wanting to be with you and you are desperately trying to get the first of many loads of laundry folded.  STOP and ASSESS.  Are they being sweet, are they genuinly wanting to be near you?  Then why not engage them in your daily tasks?

3-The greatest gift you can give is your TIME

My husband is fantastic about playing with the kids.  Wrestling, playing nintento, playing guitar for them while they dance.
I’m more of a “sit with me and read some books” these days with my energy being so lacking.  And that’s ok!
I’ve come to realize more and more that kids don’t need the extravagance that we try to measure up to.  They just want to feel like you value them, and they can tell when you’re giving it your best.  And if they don’t…well explain it to them, children are generally eager to understand.

connecting with kids

Happy parenting is not difficult, it just requires you to let your ego die a little.  Because in truth, these expectations and “requirements” we put on parenting…are they actually “needed” or even necessary for your child’s health, happiness and well being…seriously more often than not I think these parenting expectations and requirements are more DAMAGING.  And it really only stems from our own pride and ego of wanting to look and be a certain way.

So just STOP IT.  And just BE there for your kids.  It’s not complicated in the end.

St. Patrick’s Day

Our day has been extremely uneventful...like to the point of almost feeling shameful.  Probably because I spent the majority of the day on the computer as I am right now blogging.  Hmmm.  So right now is sort of a brain storm session for myself, and to help other moms...

THANK HIM FOR THE GOOD DAYS…AND MORE WILL FOLLOW

Today has been one of those eye opening days where I realize just how great life is.  Sure we don't own our house yet, we haven't taken the trip to Indonesia and Portugal that we've been wishing for the last 5 years.  But the things we do have are lasting and eternal....
