Charlotte Amalie USVI St Thomas
We explored the little port of Charlotte Amalie one day, and I’m so glad we pulled ourselves away from the gorgeous St Thomas beaches for one afternoon (as difficult as that was).
Charlotte Amalie, USVI has a lot of Dutch inspired architechture and a rich History. The USVI were once roamed about by Pirates. (There is even Black Beard’s Castle and a Pirate museum in Charlotte Amalie, but due to Covid hours are sporadic-alas we didn’t get to visit-but maybe next time!)
*I will say that while the city itself has “pretty spots” overall it feels a little run down. ☹️

Things you might like to know while visiting Charlotte Amalie
It feels like a lot like walking through parts of Portugal. There is cobblestone everywhere, the buildings (though run down) have a European charm to them.
Once you get into the center of town there is a beautiful area “square” called Palm Passage. This is by far the most upbeat, cute and picturesque part of Charlotte Amalie that we saw.
As for the rest of the USVI capital, the main streets loaded with shops has more of a Loredo, Mexico feel to it.
Eating out in Charlotte Amalie | USVI
There are some high scale restaurants in charlotte Amalie, but if you’re looking for something in between, the food quality does not match the prices in my opinon. We ate at a place called Greengos (the atmosphere was cute) but the food was NOOOOT good for the price.
For the BEST food on St Thomas that we had check out THIS post. It was affordable, delicious and 100% vegan!
Had to share this very ‘REAL’ moment. From Harley’s “so over this” face to my hair in the mouth to Kylie’s angelic smile 😜
