We took a trip to Destin a year ago, and LOVED it.  I have some recommendations, that I recall best I can 😊

Where We Stayed

We stayed in the area Rosemary Beach. There were many different acces points to the beaches and little clusters of beach rentals, hotels and condos.
I loved Rosemary beach because our condo was right in the middle of a bustling area with cute shops, restaurants, and little convenient stores.

Our condo also had a private pool (great for an end of day soak in the hot tub, or if the adults are done swimming but the kids want to keep at it haha.

Our condos also had a little villiage square with live music in the evenings and food trucks with lights strung over the lawn and picnic tables.

Price: $250/night
3 bed 2 bath

Time of Year

We found that right after Labor Day is the prime time to visit Destin, and here is why.

  • Crowds are smaller because everyone is back in school
  • Everything is still open from Summer, and not yet closed for the off season
  • The heat is not unbearably hot like mid summer, but still warm enough into the evenings.

Food

Although the atmosphere is fun, the local restaurants were a little over priced in my opion ($10 for a shake of ice cream and milk).  We ate out a couple times, but mostly we just liked getting our own food from grocery stores.  Ps, this area of Florida is south enough that they have BLUE BELL ice cream!!!
