Kalua Pork
Do you ever come across a recipe that blows your mind so much that you just want to shout it from the mountain tops and share it with all your friends, family and the stranger at the grocery store?! Well this is just that. The instant I tasted the results I called my husband, then my mom, then my brother (who loves Kalua pork) and told them all about it!
It’s sooo easy too, and super affordable. All you need is a slow cooker. My Polynesian friends would always cook the pig in the ground..a friend was even going to do one for our wedding, but it was going to cost like $400-$600!!! So I always assumed that Kalua was super expensive and difficult to make. Not anymore my friends! Just 3 ingredients and about $11
4LB Pork roast
(I used a butt roast…they range between 6-9 dollars)
1 Tbl Liquid smoke (I used the Hickory flavor)
Lots & lots of sea salt and/or pink Himalayan salt
***Spray your slow cooker with a fair amount of cooking spray.
Poke roast all over with a fork
cover with the liquid smoke & salt
COOK for 8 hours on low, shred, and there you have it!
OPTIONAL-serve over coconut rice with teriyaki sauce. MMM mmm mmm.
