Life has been go, go, GO lately. Daniel has been working extra hours, plus doing some independent side jobs, we’re both very involved with our “callings” (service assignments for our church ie, I work with the young women ages 12 and 13, and Daniel does the music for the children ages 3-11), I’m entertaining a toddler day in and day out with a little 8 week old glued to my hip 24/7 and I just started working at a Spa part time! (meeep I’m sooo excited) PLUS amidst all of this the grocery shopping still has to get done, the house needs to be cleaned and all four of us still need to eat 3 meals a day and snack in between. Daniel does help a lot when he’s home, and if he’s not working on a client’s website in the evenings, but for the most part it’s just me and the littles. So needless to say I HAVE to have my energy. If I’m exhausted then I turn into a MONSTER MAMA! Irritable, easily frustrated and quick tempered….I DON’T like that me. What I eat is theee biggest contributor to my energy levels. I make sure to eat good healthy foods that give me ENERGY. Yes, ENERGY. Too often after we eat we just want to take a looong nap right? Well stop for a moment and think about what you’re eating. Because food is not supposed to make you sleepy. Wonder why they say food IS energy? Well it’s because it IS. Real food anyway. The more greasy and processed something is to longer it takes our bodies to digest, which requires more work and takes up more energy…rather than giving it. Here is a list of typical foods and snacks I eat on the daily, I try to includes lots of raw foods and lean proteins, with as little processed foods as possible.
SOME OF MY FAVORITE “QUICK EATS”
JALAPENO BITES (*pictured) -These tuna cracker bites are a “recipe” Daniel came up with. A grain cracker, cream cheese, jalapeno jam topped with plain tuna.
RAW FRUITS/VEGGIES-Like I just said. I like to eat food that give me life and energy. Raw fruits and vegetables are the best sources for these.
EGGIES N’ GREENIES –I’ve been on an egg kick every morning for the past month. I’ll usually cook some spinach or kale, then scramble an egg into it, add some Himalayan salt and your done! mmmm.
CREAM CHEESE & HAM ROLL-These are one of Kylie’s favorites. Just the tiniest bit of goat cheese on a slice of deli ham and rolled up.
AVOCADO N’ CREAM SMOOTHIE-May sound strange, but avocado smoothies are some of the yummiest, creamiest smoothies you will ever find. My recipe HERE.
SALADS (pictured)-You can’t go wrong with salads. And if you don’t like salad, it’s because you’re making them wrong. I think I’ll make a post just of all my favorite salads so all you salad haters can see how to do it right 😉 see my latest salad fav HERE
BELGIAN THINS (*pictured)-I’m still human so obviously I still like my sweets here and there. These dark chocolate Belgian thins are surprisingly good. Kylie even loves them.
Hopefully you enjoyed my little list.
