After two days of planning this post, I’m finally able to steal away a few minutes to write.
To be honest, I could have written it yesterday when Kylie miraculously fell asleep and then Harley passed out when I was nursing her. I changed position and propped her so her head was on my shoulder, ready to carry her to her bed so I could blog. But the sweet smell of the honey shampoo on her head made me stop. I ended up just snuggling her, and we took a power nap together.
As I lay there holding my little angel I started to think about how happy I was for making the concious decision to savor this moment rather than spend it in front of a computer screen writing to people I don’t even know. (Now don’t misunderstand. I LOVE my followers and it’s exciting writing to people all over the globe. What I’m saying is it’s important to remember to put the people closest to you FIRST 🙂 and I think we can all agree).
MY RESOLUTION— This post was going to be based around how fun and memorable it was planing flowers with my mom and Kylie while my parents were here. It ended up being the basis of my New Year’s Resolution while sitting there soaking in the warmth of Harley’s little body and the smell of honey.
“Pansies are resilient, bright and colorful. They look dead when they freeze over in the harsh winters. But when the slightest bit of sunshine shows, they pop right back up and no one knows the battles they face from day to day, because they’re always happy and bright in every way”
Life can has it’s harsh winters. And we can choose to wilt and die, or we can hold on even though we appear defeated, and come back full force once the trials pass. And look beautiful and happy…not as if we went through a terrible storm.
The other part of my resolution doesn’t tie into this in a very clear way….but it does for me personally. I want to use this year to become more patient and slower to anger….I’m NOT going to become an over exasperated mom that expects my two year old to act like an adult. I want them to look back on their childhood with memories of love and being understood and valued more than objects or mom’s to-do lists.
What are some of your resolutions? Thanks for reading everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
“BE AWARE THAT THE TINY FINGERPRINTS THAT SHOW UP ON ALMOST EVERY NEWLY CLEANED SURFACE, THE TOYS SCATTERED ABOUT THE HOUSE, THE PILES AND PILES OF LAUNDRY TO BE TACKLED WILL DISAPPEAR ALL TOO SOON AND THAT YOU WILL-TO YOUR SURPRISE-MISS THEM PROFOUNDLY.”
