pre baby listlash extensions img_6673

I think every new mom has a list of what to get for the baby before they come.  But I like to make a “ME” list as well.  Because let’s be honest, it’s not the easiest thing to feel “pretty” the days following giving birth. Hello puffy sleep deprived eyes, flabby everything, giant pads….and so on.  I mean obviously you’re on cloud nine with your new baby, but I do feel that it’s important to feel good about yourself.  You just became a mom, one of the most precious and wonderful times of your life.  And I’m realizing while typing this that maybe I’m just high maintenance (hehe) but with Kylie I did some of these things on the list, and I look back on those days following her birth with fondness.  I felt good about myself, and I could still look and feel pretty with putting in little to no effort, so I was able to just focus on bonding with my baby.

1.LASHES-This one is probably the biggest for me.  There is nothing better than waking up with long luscious lashes without having to put on mascara.  Dark full lashes can make you look completely put together.  I start my makeup routine with my mascara because from there I know how much or how little of all other makeup products I want to use.  And fortunately I have amazing friends who gave me a gift card for a lash appointment, I just went in Saturday and I’ve forgotten just how much I LOVE lashes!

2. WAXING-My entire married life I’ve always had Brazilian waxes (sorry if that’s TMI).  But I just delayed it before having Kylie until it was too late.  Part of it was laziness too…and not being able to reach around my stomach very well (I do them myself…when I worked in the spa industry the estheticians taught me).  This time I’m staying on top of it.  Because I spaced taking into consideration that I would need to wait weeks afterwards before getting one again, and lets just say that with dark hair, and weeks and weeks without waxing……not flattering.

3.A PLETHORA OF NURSING BRAS-I tried a couple of nursing bras with Kylie, but they both would start to make my shoulders ache with all the extra chest weight, or after a few times of wearing the fabric would stretch and no longer support where support was needed.  Then I tried THIS one and it was a game changer.  I only got one because they are a little pricier, but in the end I liked this one so much more that I was wearing it daily and would end up having to wash it almost daily because of leaking.  So this time I made sure to track them until they went on sale then bought a ton.  I have 1 black, 1 nude and 1 blush.  I also decided to try THIS one, and got 1 black, 1 nude.  I know that may seem like a lot, but with leaking, it’s nice not to have to do laundry every single day.  They are so comfy that I’ve been wearing them for the last month because my regular bras just hurt at this point :/ Another huge PLUS with these is that they are comfy enough to sleep in.

4.HAIR-Whether you go someplace to get your hair done, or do it yourself like me 😉 just get it done.  I retouched mine the week before and was so glad I did.  There’s just something about getting your hair done that makes you feel like a whole new woman, am I right? 😀

5.NAILS-This one is easy for anyone to do themselves…or you can have a pamper day and go to the nail spa (I just do them myself).  But nails-like lashes-just make me feel put together.  Especially when looking back through photos of those first few days with your new baby 🙂

Anyway, that’s my “me” list.
Thanks for reading and I hope ya’ll are having a great Saturday!

XOXO
