What says “SUMMER” more than a glass of refreshing lemonade on ice?
Last week I hit another wave of extreme pregnancy nausea, where plain water made me want to vomit and whatever water I could keep down felt like a brick in my stomach 😛 Being terrified of becoming dehydrated, I had to start coming up with some ways to keep extra fluids down.
One afternoon I stumbled upon some random lemons and limes in the fridge that I didn’t know we had (maybe I should clean my fridge out more, oops). I couldn’t think of any dishes they would go well with (that I’d be in the mood to cook) any time soon, but I certainly didn’t want them to go bad. Then I light bulb went on. M
AKE SOME FRESH LEMON-LIMEADE! And thus this thirst quenching beauty came about. Kylie and I finished the entire thing in one afternoon. Minus about 1/2 cups worth that I FORCED myself to save for Daniel…probably the hardest thing I’ve had to do. I forget just how easy homemade lemonade is. AND you do away with all the unnecessary sugars, preservatives and who knows what else! You can even make this on the healthy side by using honey, stevia or agave as the sweetener.
Here’s the recipe I used
*You can use a juicer if you like, but when I’m only juicing lemons/limes I don’t like all the extra clean up, so I prefer to use a simple hand juicer like this one.
Lemon-LimeAde
3 Lemons
2 limes
1/3 c granulated sugar *adjust to taste
approx 8 c water
***Juice the lemons and limes, remove any seeds. Pour into pitcher, add the sugar, then the water. Adjust water/sugar to taste.
ENJOY!
